Keeping pages together, taking them apart — how often do I do that in a day?
The paperclip is the most basic of tools, and I must admit I am flummoxed without them. As my left hand holds a number of pages, my right hand gropes expectantly for a paper clip, and if one is not present, I am stopped in my tracks. Same with a stapler — it’s got to be handy and functioning, with spare staples at the ready. (In my fantasy world, I call for “another clip” like the guys in combat movies when they run out of ammunition.)
