286/365 – First frost came early

The picture says it better than words can — everything droopy with that particular loss of torpor that can only come with freezing water in your veins.  One day, the flowers are blooming and the next, decimation.  Even some of the trees have been caught by surprise with their leaves still on but now withered by frost.  Such is the annual cleansing by cold we enjoy up here in the northern latitudes.  We should be grateful for all the diseases and pests it prevents.
